Daily stress can weigh down your nervous system like a ball and chain. Repetitive physical, chmical and emotional stress can subtly cause misalignments in your spine called subluxations. The resulting pressure on your nervous system from uncorrected subluxation can lead to fatigue, restlessness and mental fog. The solution... Get adjusted! Unlocking your spine with regular chiropractic care can restore your lost energy, vitality and alertness. Break the chains of subluxations with regular chiropractic care and reach your potential today.

![]() The story goes: If you put a frog into a pot of boiling water, it will leap out right away to escape the danger. But, if you put a frog in a kettle that is filled with cool water and gradually heat the kettle until it starts boiling, the frog will not become aware of the threat until it is too late. I'm not sure if this is accurate, but the story bears remembering. The second frog accommodates stress and fails to take appropriate action because it happens on a subtle gradient. We do the same. We accommodate physical, chemical, and emotional stresses until we can't, producing subluxations. As you know, most subluxations do not produce any obvious symptoms. How long we keep those subluxations will most likely determine how adversely our body's functions, health, and life are effected. Getting checked regularly, will help keep our nerve system as clear as possible to do the work it needs to do to keep us functioning better and at our best in health and all areas of life. Whether you move or not, your choice stimulates the cytoskeletons of all your cells in a way that signals “this behavior is what I do, so please adapt.” Our cultural patterns of localized bone loss are what you would expect from the loading patterns we have in common. Skeletons are a sort of “living story” you are continuously writing. ---Katy Bowman, Move Your DNA
Turgor is the scientific name for stiffness or rigidity within a tissue. A wilted plant, due to lack of water, has LOW turgor, whereas one with NORMAL turgor stands strong and upright while maintaining its flexibility. Your body also has turgor. When too high, you experience stiffness and rigidity---a bad thing. Think of a balloon that's filled with air right up to its bursting point. Too much turgor in this case has rendered it stiff, tight, unpliable, rigid, unyielding and on the brink of popping. Likewise, too much turgor in your body, especially in your spine, can put you on the edge of physical failure. Like releasing air in an over inflated balloon, chiropractic adjustments can often reduce the stress and tension that build in your body from daily stress. Chiropractic clients often express a sense of overall ease after they get adjusted. Regularly purging that excess pressure from your spine by getting adjusted at least once a week is not only great for your nervous system, but with the right balance of flexibility and stability (turgor), you'll enjoy a better quality of life.
![]() Here is what an adjustment IS. An adjustment IS a specific and safe force that is introduced to a subluxated (misaligned) vertebra. The body then uses this force to move the vertebra towards its proper position which allows the nervous system to function better so the body can function and heal more efficiently. Here is what an adjustment IS NOT. An adjustment is NOT a magic trick that magically makes back pain or any other symptom disappear. Consider this. When people see their medical doctor for an illness, they know that they will leave that doctor still feeling sick with a prescription and instructions to take a pill 3 times a day for 10 days. They also know that after those 30 "appointments", they may still be sick and need to go back to their medical doctor. Likewise, people who are experiencing acute back pain or other symptoms are probably going to leave their first chiropractic visit still experiencing some symptoms and with a "prescription" for more adjustments. Then after those adjustments, they may choose, and often do choose, to continue to go back to their chiropractor on a regular basis because they now also understand that the health benefits of chiropractic care go beyond just the relief of symptoms. It's true that people often do report that they feel better in some way after just one adjustment (more energy, better range of motion, breathing easier, better sleep, and yes... even less pain), and that's a very good thing. However, the objective of chiropractic is to correct vertebral subluxations (spinal misalignments) whether or not symptoms are present to allow the master control system of the body, the nervous system, to function better. Whether people still have pain or not (or any other symptom) after an adjustment, they can be confident that with fewer subluxations, they are walking out of the office functioning better than when they walked in.
Below is an excerpt from a blog post by one of chiropractic's greatest, Dr. Joe Strauss. [Health] is, among other things, well-being. Well-being that is dependent upon the full expression of the innate intelligence of the body, which necessitates being free of vertebral subluxations. Of course, it also requires attention to other [non-chiropractic] aspects of health. It is important that the chiropractor conveys... the part that chiropractic plays in restoring and maintaining health [which is locating and correcting vertebral subluxations].
