Can a car with bad alignment still be driven? Yes---but it will never steer to its potential. How about one running on 5 cylinders instead of 6? Yes, it too can get you from point A to point B---but it will never accelerate to its potential.
In an effort to squeeze every bit of performance out of a car, you can try using higher octane gas, putting on expensive tires and/or replacing your brake pads, but if the car's alignment and 'spark' are compromised, it'll never perform to the manufacturer's intended specs... likewise with your body. Organic food, cross fitness exercising and Pilates training are nice additives to squeeze more performance out of your body, but you'll never hit your potential if your spinal alignment and nerve system 'spark' are compromised (subluxated). To get the most out of those extra-health activities, you should be subluxation free.

Every day, people around the world thank their Chiropractors for giving them their health and their lives back. It's common to hear patients say 'doc, you really did a great job...' and 'doc, you helped me when no one else could.' But the truth is... we can't take all the credit.
While medicine gives most of the credit for healing to the physician or the drug, Chiropractors see it as a team effort with four key players---the Chiropractor who clears interference from the nerve system, the innate wisdom within the patient which orchestrates the healing, the patient who practices good lifestyle habits, and the time it takes for the process to unfold. We're ecstatic when you see results from our service. But never forget, we're not the only one rowing the boat. There are three other oarsmen, pulling in unison... and together we make the perfect, healing team! Does it take a while for you to get going in the morning? Are your joints stiff and achy when you first wake up, and take a few hours to loosen? Stiff, tired joints can leave you feeling and acting older than you are.
Motion is Life. If you let anything sit in one place too long, it's bound to freeze up like a rusted bolt. Spinal joints, subjected to long standing fixations (Vertebral Subluxations) are no different. That's why maintenance chiropractic care is so beneficial. Adjustments unlock 'stuck' joints before they become painful, arthritic, and frozen in place - the longer you wait between visits, the more work required to get them moving again. Like rusted bolts, chronically fixated joints take TLC and more frequent adjustments to become free again. If you want to avoid the hassle, the smart move would be to visit your Chiropractor regularly and not let them get that bad in the first place. If you were unfortunate enough to break a bone, you know what it's like to get casted. With a little repositioning and some skilled plastering, the fracture is stable. After a few weeks when the cast comes off, you're just as good as new. So did the cast do the healing?
Plaster casts and Chiropractic Adjustments have something in common... neither one can heal you. Sure both may be necessary after an injury. But they can only create the environment necessary for healing to take place. Casts align broken bones so they can mend; adjustments align misaligned vertebrae to optimize nerve flow---but it's the innate healing power of the Life inside you that scripts the healing. The next time you come for an adjustment to instantly ease your headache, your sciatica or your sleeping problems, understand it's not the adjustment that produces the result. Adjustments simply create an environment conducive for healing. The doctor inside you is the one who does all the work. In a recent Mayo Clinic study, researchers determined that nearly 70 percent of Americans are on at least one prescription drug, and more than half receive at least two prescriptions. Twenty percent of U.S. patients were also found to be on five or more prescription medications. When it comes to health, Americans aren't as free as we think we are.
Chiropractors believe true freedom comes from IN-Dependence---relying on the Power that made you, to heal you and keep you well. IN-Dependent Chiropractic patients know they innately possess what it takes to heal. they trust in the wisdom of their bodies to handle what ails them instead of running to the medicine cabinet for every cough or sniffle. They're the 30% who would rather give Mother Nature the chance to do her job, than usurp her roll with drug intervention. Big Pharma won't stop advertising and pushing their products until we're 100% dependent on them. this Fourth of July when you're celebrating our country's freedom, take a moment to reflect on your body's freedom as well. Are you truly as IN-Dependent as you want to be? A titration test analyzes how many drops of chemical it takes to create a specific reaction - usually a change in solution color. Drop by drop, the reagent is added until and observable change is seen. And if asked which drop finally made the difference, the correct answer would be they all did.
Chiropractic care works in a similar fashion. Often a patient will exclaim after a visit, "Doc, that last adjustment really did it. I feel better already." In reality, it wasn't just ONE adjustment that did the trick - the past ones contributed, as will the future ones. The effect is cumulative. When adjusted regularly, drop by drop, you eventually reap the rewards in improved health, higher function and realized potential. If you ever wonder which adjustment changed your Life for the better? The answer is they all did, and will continue to do so. It's a common question Chiropractic patients have..."Hey doc, what do you think did it to me this time? Is it the way I'm sleeping, or maybe the stress at work?" To tell you the truth, without 24/7 video surveillance of your every move, it's difficult to tell.
Trying to determine what specific activity created your Subluxation is like trying to figure out which pothole knocked your car out of alignment. They all contribute to it. And driving in fear---worrying about every rock, crack and ditch your car travels over, will only stress you more. Instead of fretting over every scenario that could throw your spine out of alignment, it's healthier just to get checked and adjusted on a regular basis. Physical, mental and chemical stress is an everyday part of Life. Chiropractic care simply helps you get past all the bumps you'll eventually hit in the road. If you've ever tuned into the A&E television program Hoarders, it doesn't take a genius to quickly realize it's going to take more than a bottle of Windex to clean up all the garbage, moldy food and rotting animal poop that's been accumulating in those houses for years and years and years...
But some people accumulate health problems the same way, and unrealistically believe it will take just a visit or two at the Chiropractor's to fix all their issues. From years of neglect, bad advise and denial, their chronic illnesses pile up until they can no longer recognize the healthy state their body used to be in. By the time they decide to see a Chiropractor, they've got a real 'dis-ease hoarding' problem and unfortunately one adjustment isn't enough to clean up the squalor. The goal of Chiropractic isn't to temporarily sweep your symptoms under a rug to make things look good on the surface, but to actually roll our sleeves up and get rid of the underlying clutter once and for all. Sure it might take a little more time and a bit more elbow grease to transform your health our natural way, but in the end your human house will be clean, pristine and habitable again. |
